The closest you can get to The Valley of Flowers by road is Pulna village just 3km from Govind Ghat towards Ghangaria route. This requires around an 11 hour drive to Joshimath from Dehradun, then another one hour to Gobindghat and 15 minute drive to Pulna. Valley of flowers is famous for its outstanding natural beauty, endangered animals and endemic alpine flowers. This valley comes under the national park category of India. It is spread over an area of around 88 sq. Km. Beautiful waterfalls, landscapes and meadow add more stars to the beauty of Valley of Flowers. This national park is surrounded by forests.
By Road It is well connected with car/buses road. One can easily book Buses and Taxis from all major towns of Uttarakhand.Valley of Flowers is well connected upto Govind Ghat from here you have to 16 kms commence trek to reach Valley of Flowers. Govind Ghat well connected by road with major destinations of Uttarakhand state transport. Car, Buses and Taxis are easily available from Rishikesh city or Haridawar.
By Train The nearest train/railway station is Rishikesh to reach Valley of flowers. From here you have to manage car or bus to till Govind Ghat. Valley of flowers is a far from Govind Ghat only 16 kms. Rishikesh city is well connected by railway or road networks with major destinations of India.
By Air Jolly Grant Airport is the nearest Airport to here, but the road is only connected upto the Govind Ghat. Now you have to trek of 16kms to reach Valley of Flowers. Govindghat is located at a distance of only 292kms from Jolly Grant Airport and well connected by motor able roads. Jolly Grant Airport is well connected to Delhi transport also.
Flora and fauna
This area is home to several rare and endangered species including the Snow leopard, Asiatic black bear, musk deer, flying squirrel, tahr, brown bear, red fox and blue sheep. However, the density of animals is very low. Among the birds, Himalayan Monal Pheasant and other high altitude birds can be sighted in this National Park. Among flowers, orchids, poppies, primulas, marigold, daisies and anemones are very abundant. However, there are more than 300 species of higher plants in this area. Some of these plants also have medicinal values.
First Day Teak - Starts from Govind Ghat (1900mtr) to Ghangria (3000mtr), 7 hours, 13kms gradual ascent.
Second Day Trek - Ghangria to Valley of flowers (3500 m), back to Ghangria 10 kms easy ascent followed by flat walk through the valley and return.
Third Day Trek - Ghangria to Hemkund (4300m) Sahib and back to Ghangria 6 kms 7 hours hard climb 5 hours descent.
Fourth Day Trek - Fourth day teak will start from Ghangria to Govind Ghat 13kms easy descent 5 hours.
Climate in the Valley of Flowers
Best time to visit Valley of flowers is from July to August, this is the when climates remain best to trek this beautiful valley. Average rainfall in this area is almost 1800.2 mm. Valley of flowers is located at an altitude of 3250 to 6750 meters from the sea level. Maximum temperature in this area goes up to 17°C and Minimum goes down to 7°C. This temperature is best to trek this high altitude valley.
Itinerary for Valley of flowers Trek
Day 01: Haridwar/ Rishikesh / Dehraund -
Joshimath
Morning drive to reach Joshimath (1874 mt / 253Km) which
is the winter abode of Lord Badrinath. Lunch enroute. Evening arrive at
Joshimath and check into the hotel.
Day 02:
Joshimath - GovindGhat - Ghangaria Trek
After breakfast, drive to reach Govindghat (1828 mt / 22Km). Start
trekking to reach Ghangaria(3049 mt / 14 km Trek) with packed lunch.
Ghangaria is also known as GOVIND DHAM, It is the base camp for visiting
Hemkund Sahib and Valley of Flowers

Ghangaria - Valley of Flower - Ghangaria
Trek to the Valley of Flowers. The whole valley is dotted with varieties
of exotic flowers and other flora. Return to Ghangria for overnight stay.

Day 04: Ghangaria -
Hemkund - Ghangaria
Early in the morning start trekking (7 Km) to reach "HEMKUND SAHIB". One
of the most revered of all Sikh Shrines, The Hemkund Sahib, the Worlds
Highest Gurudwara, is situated at an altitude of 4,329 mts. In the
afternoon trek down to reach Ghangariya for overnight stay. Evening is
free for rest & relaxation.

This places is surrounded by the seven snow covered peaks. Hemkund lake is holy lake for hindus and Sikhs. Best way to reach this place is through Govind Ghat, on the Badrinath road.

Trekking: Valley of flowers is a world heritage site and among the natural wonders of the world. This beautiful valley is located at the feet of amazing snow peaks. This valley is almost 10 km long and almost 12 km wide. During the rainy season, the whole valley turns into a naturally created beautiful garden, with different verity of colorful flowers. This valley is located at an altitude of around 3500-4000 meters. There are few snow lakes and glaciers in this valley which increases the beauty of this place.
Valley of flowers is famous for its excellent natural trekking trail, it is the home for many beautiful flowers like Cobra Lily, Blue Poppy and Brahmakamal. This is a must visit place for the flower and nature lovers.

Day 1 : Rishikesh - Joshimath
leave for Joshimath by car. On the way visit Rudra prayag where Mandakini and Alaknanda rivers meet. On arrival at Joshimath, check in hotel. Dinner & Night Halt.
Day 2 : Joshimath - Ghangaria
Early morning we leave from Joshimath for Govindghat, which is the starting point for the trek. From Govindghat there is a gradual ascent along a well - maintained pilgrim trail to the camp at Ghangaria - the base from where day walks can be made into the valley of flowers. Arrange porters and prepare for the trek. After a light breakfast, 14 km trek up to Ghangaria. Dinner & Night halt at Camp / Hotel. ( All meals at camp).
Day 3 : Ghangaria - Valley Of Flowers - Ghangria
After breakfast 4 km trek to Valley Of Flowers (3858 m ) from Ghangaria. The valley is an enchanting sight with an impressive array of rare wildflowers like brahma kamal, fane Kamal with range of small multicolored flowers make it a delight for travelers. The snowclad peaks including Nilgiri Parbat (6474 m) stand in bold relief against the skyline. The valley is 10 kms long, 2 kms wide, and is divided by the Pushpawati stream, into which several tiny streams and waterfalls merge. After enjoying the beauty of valley we come back to Ghangaria. Dinner & Night halt at camp / Hotel. ( Pack lunch and dinner ).
Day 4 : Ghangaria - Hemkundsahib - Ghangaria
After breakfast 6 km trek to Hemkundsahib (4329 m) from Ghangaria. This is quite a steep climb. In the Sikh holy book, the Granth Sahib, the Sikh Guru Gobind Singh recounts that in a previous life, he meditated on the shores of a lake surrounded by seven snowcapped mountains now recognized by Hemkund. We visit Lake & Gurudwara. Again 6 km trek back to Ghangaria. Dinner & Night halt at camp / Hotel. ( All meals )
Day 5 : Ghangaria - Joshimath - Auli
After breakfast leave for Govindghat on the trek of 14 kms and reach govindghat be afternoon and drive back to Joshimath after that drive to Auli. Check in hotel on arrival and relax. One can also visit Auli in the evening. overnight at hotel. ( breakfast and lunch ).
Day 6: Auli-Joshimath - rishikesh - Haridwar
Early morning we leave with packed breakfast from Joshimath for Haridwar. On the way visit Devprayag and Rishikesh. Arrive Haridwar. Trip end up here.
